Hi! I’m Nataya. I’m a research analyst by day and wellness champion by night. I have a background in both community psychology and clinical mental health counseling, which makes for an interesting professional life. I’m comfy diving into data but I also strive to find the practical application of it.
As a wellness advocate, I believe that all facets of life are important in the grand scheme of being healthy.
I began The Everyday Unicorn as a way to speak with women similar to myself, who are navigating their way through life and trying to stay healthy and whole. I’m not only a person who is mindful of the world around me, but also a someone who’s accepting of the amazing things it has to offer.
There are many blogs and resources out there who address wellness. Some of which I frequently read and follow. However, sometimes I find myself overwhelmed with the perfectly curated images they present. It suggests that the path to be healthy and happy is a picture perfect one… which is often not the case. Add that to the lack of spaces specifically dedicated to the complexity of Black Women, and I saw a real need to begin The EU.
The Everyday Unicorn was named as such because it recognizes the fact that magical things can be found in common, ordinary things. And, most importantly, I consider myself an Everyday Unicorn because there’s nothing glitzy or glamorous about me, but I still live a life full of Magic.
